Privacy Policy

Effective Date: March 4, 2026  |  Last Updated: March 4, 2026

1. Introduction

Welcome to Guess the Puzzle (the “Game”), developed by MAKA Studio (“we,” “us,” or “our”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you play our Game on Android or web. By playing the Game, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the minimum information necessary to provide the Game experience:

  • Anonymous User ID: An auto-generated unique identifier created by Firebase Authentication. This is not linked to your name, email, or any real-world identity.
  • Display Name & Avatar: An auto-generated display name (e.g., “SwiftFox”) and avatar image derived from in-game puzzle thumbnails. No real name or photo is used unless you optionally sign in with Google.
  • Gameplay Data: Puzzles solved, energy levels, star balances, streaks, tiles revealed, category progress, and leaderboard scores.
  • Analytics Events: In-game actions such as puzzle start, puzzle complete, puzzle share, ad watch, category unlock, and user return events. These events include gameplay metrics (e.g., tiles revealed, stars earned) but no personal identifiers.
  • Ad Interaction Data: Information about rewarded video ads collected by Google AdMob, including ad impressions and reward completions. AdMob may collect device identifiers and ad engagement data subject to their own privacy policy.
  • Optional Google Account: If you choose to link your progress to a Google account, we receive your Google display name and profile photo. This is entirely optional and only used to personalize your in-game profile.

We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, location, contacts, or any other personally identifiable information unless you voluntarily link a Google account.

3. How We Use Information

  • To save your game progress and sync it across devices
  • To maintain and display leaderboard rankings
  • To track streaks, energy, stars, and unlocked categories
  • To serve rewarded video advertisements
  • To analyze aggregate gameplay patterns and improve the Game
  • To debug issues and monitor app stability

Legal Basis for Processing (EEA/UK Users): We process your data based on legitimate interest for core gameplay functionality (progress, streaks, leaderboards) and consent for personalized advertising. When you first open the Game in the EEA/UK, a consent dialog is presented. You may update your ad consent at any time via Ad Preferences in your profile menu.

US State Privacy Laws: If you are located in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, or other US states with applicable privacy laws, you have the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information for advertising purposes. When required, a privacy notice is presented within the Game. You may update your choice at any time via Ad Preferences in your profile menu.

4. Third-Party Services

The Game uses the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policies:

  • Google Firebase (Auth, Firestore, Storage, Analytics) — stores your anonymous user profile and gameplay data securely in Google’s cloud infrastructure. Firebase Privacy Policy
  • Google AdMob — serves rewarded video advertisements within the Game. AdMob may collect device advertising IDs and ad interaction data. Google Privacy Policy
  • Google Analytics 4 — aggregates anonymized gameplay event data to help us understand how the Game is used. Google Privacy Policy

5. Children’s Privacy (COPPA)

Guess the Puzzle is intended for general audiences aged 13 and older. The Game is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

  • All play is anonymous — the Game uses auto-generated names and avatars, never real names, photos, or contact details.
  • Rewarded video ads are served through Google AdMob with a Teen content rating filter. Child-directed ad treatment is not enabled.
  • We do not share any user data with third parties for advertising purposes beyond what is described in Section 4.
  • If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal information, please contact us at muafkhar@gmail.com and we will promptly delete it.

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell your data. We share data only with Google (Firebase/AdMob/Analytics) as data processors to operate the Game. The public leaderboard displays only your auto-generated display name and avatar — never your real identity. We may disclose data if required by law.

7. Data Retention & Deletion

Your anonymous game profile is retained as long as your account is active. You can delete your data at any time by:

  • Clearing the app’s data in your device settings (removes the anonymous account and all local data)
  • Emailing us at muafkhar@gmail.com to request deletion of your account and associated Firestore data

We will process deletion requests within 30 days.

8. Security

We use Firebase security rules to ensure each user can only access their own profile data. Firestore enforces per-user access controls, and all data is transmitted over HTTPS. While no system is perfectly secure, we take reasonable measures to protect your information.

9. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have certain rights regarding your personal data. For users in the European Economic Area (EEA), UK, and Switzerland, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Rectify inaccurate or incomplete data
  • Erase your data (“right to be forgotten”)
  • Restrict or object to certain processing
  • Data portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format
  • Withdraw consent at any time for ad personalization via Ad Preferences in your profile menu, without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal
  • Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority

For users in applicable US states (California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, and others), you have the right to:

  • Opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information for advertising
  • Know what personal information is collected and how it is used
  • Delete your personal information
  • Non-discrimination — exercise your rights without penalty

You can manage your ad data preferences via Ad Preferences in your profile menu. To exercise any other rights, contact us at muafkhar@gmail.com. We will respond within 30 days.

10. Third-Party Image Content

Some puzzle images displayed in the Game are sourced from publicly available content under Creative Commons or similar free-use licenses. These images are used solely for gameplay purposes and are not sold or redistributed. If you are a copyright holder and believe any image infringes your rights, please contact us at muafkhar+CR@gmail.com and we will promptly remove it.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy at this URL with a new effective date. Continued use of the Game after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
